Moldova’s Post Office launches postage stamps on International Bird Day

The state-owned company Moldova’s Post Office on April 1 put into circulation a special series of postage stamps and maximum illustrations titled "International Bird Day. Songbirds". The campaign aims not only to celebrate the diversity of songbirds, but also to promote the protection of their natural habitats, a topic of global importance, IPN reports.

The series includes four postage stamps, each representing a different species of songbird.

The stamps were made by artist Vladimir Melnic, and the maximum illustrations, available in a limited edition of 200 copies, include a "First Day" cover with the same theme.

In addition, a special postage stamp was created to mark this occasion, made by Olesea Rusnac.

The series includes postage stamps illustrating the Eurasian wren, the Icterine warbler, the Yellow-headed goldcrest and the European bee-eater, with values of 4.00 lei, 5.00 lei, 5.20 lei and 13.50 lei respectively.

Starting today, the postage stamps will be distributed in all post offices in the country, and philatelists can purchase these special products from the philatelic store of Moldova’s Post Office.
