A pensioner aged 70 was sentenced to ten years in jail after he tried to rape a six-year-old gird x living in the neighborhood. According to prosecutors from Cantermir, last spring the offender served the minor with candies and alcohol and then took her to a deserted house, where he attempted to rape her. His plans were thwarted by the victim’s brother, who told his mother what he saw, IPN reports.

Besides serving time in prison, the pensioner will also pay 12,000 lei in respect of pecuniary and non-pecuniary damages to the injured party.
