Radio and TV stations fined more than 3 million lei in 2024

The Broadcasting Council imposed 238 fines totaling 3 015 500 lei on radio and TV stations in 2024, IPN reports.

According to the AC's activity report for last year, 221 fines worth 2,603,500 lei were imposed on TV media service providers. Out of these, 180 were applied in the field of control, 18 - in the field of licensing and 23 - for failure to harmonize the sound level of audiovisual programs with the one used for broadcasting commercial content.

Radio stations have been fined 17 fines amounting to 412 thousand lei, of which six - in the field of audiovisual media services control and the other 11 - in the field of licensing.

Asked by IPN, representatives of the Audiovisual Council said that only some of the sanctioned TV stations managed to pay the fines. Out of 2 603 500 lei, 546 000 lei have been paid. As for radio stations, three fines have been paid in full and one is being paid in installments.

In order to ensure that the fines are paid, the Audiovisual Council is constantly sending summonses and execution warrants to the State Tax Service.
