Romanian official comes to Chisinau to facilitate recovery of Romanian nationality

The head of the Romanian National Authority for Nationality Gheorghe Emacu admits that there are some problems in the process of recovery of the Romanian nationality for Moldovans. Emacu assured the Moldovan Minister of Justice Oleg Efrim that the authorities in Bucharest were doing their best to offer improved conditions for Moldovans to make use of this opportunity, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Our interest is that the Romanian National Authority for Nationality worked well and clearly”, Gheorghe Emacu stated during his meeting with Oleg Efrim. According to a press release of the Ministry of Justice, Gheorghe Emacu said that he came to Chisinau to identify solutions for improving the process of recovery of Romanian nationality and announced he would propose the Romanian Ministry of Justice Titus Corlatean a series of amendments to the law regulating this process. In turn, Oleg Efrim assured the head of the Romanian National Authority for Nationality he would have all the necessary support, encouraging him to denounce any attempt of public workers in Chisinau to transform the process into a business. “We are determined to put an end to such practices”, declared Oleg Efrim. After the impeachment of Romanian President Traian Basescu on July 6, there were many who claimed that the process of recovery of Romanian nationality would be slowed down, especially after the sack of head of the National Authority for nationality. However, Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta assured during his visit in Chisinau that there was no such problem and that all the changes were meant to improve the process.
