The application to renounce temporary protection can be submitted at any office of the Migration Inspectorate

The General Inspectorate for Migration has simplified the procedure by which beneficiaries of temporary protection can relinquish this status. Following this change, people who wish to renounce can apply directly at any IGM office across the country, IPN reports.

The application can be submitted in person by the applicant or by an authorized representative, provided he or she presents a notarized power of attorney.

In order to complete the procedure, the applicant must present the identity document issued by the IGM or, in its absence, an affidavit explaining the reason for the absence of the document.

Once the application has been processed, a certificate will be issued confirming that temporary protection has been waived.
