The sanitation campaign started three weeks ago is in full swing in Chisinau. Used metal items have been removed from the playgrounds in the courtyards of apartment blocks. Unauthorized fences and anti-parking devices have been demolished on public grounds, IPN reports.
Tudor Girbu, the acting director of the municipal enterprise "Association for the Management of Green Spaces", told a meeting at the City Hall that from Monday mechanized lawn mowing works will start in areas with grass growing, including parks and street alignments. Also, from Monday night, Green Spaces workers will start treating trees for pests.
Around 400 workers provide daily manual sanitation in public spaces, the courtyards of residential blocks, including playgrounds and sports fields, waste collection platforms and public transport waiting stations.
At the same time as manual sanitation, mechanized sanitation is carried out on main and secondary streets and sidewalks. Teams of workers use almost 20 technical units every day: "Hako" machines and vacuum cleaners attached to tractors.
The sanitation campaign will run until April 18.
