Transnistrian economic agents to pay customs duty based on general principles

Starting January 1, all economic agents, including those from the Transnistrian region, will pay the customs duty in accordance with general principles, taking into account the preferences granted under international treaties and agreements to which Moldova is a party, IPN reports.

According to the Customs Service, the new Customs Code entered into force on January 1, replacing the previous Code. The Law on the taking of goods into or out of the Republic of Moldova by individuals also took effect.

Thus, the exemptions introduced by the provisions of the Law on the customs duty, namely “The import-export operations performed by economic agents located on the territory of the Republic of Moldova that do not have fiscal relations with its budgetary system shall be carried out in the manner approved by the Cabinet”, were repealed.

“In order to ensure the principle of equity for all representatives of the business community in the Republic of Moldova, the customs duty is to be levied on the basis of the Law on the approval of the Combined Nomenclature of Goods,” the Customs Service noted.
