Two urban recreational area are being set up in Chisinau’s Ciocana district, at Maria Drăgan Square and at 29 Mircea cel Bătrân Boulevard. Some 40-50 % of the work is completed at both sites and the municipal authorities estimate that the facilities will be launched by the end of August.
Vasile Efros, head of the Amenities and Sanitation Division, told IPN that the site on Maria Dragan Street had been abandoned, but after some beautification it will become a leisure area offering a panoramic view of the cityscape. There will be green areas and a pedestrian zone. Also, urban furniture like benches, garbage cans, etc. will be installed, and there will be playgrounds and three telescopes as well.
Vasile Efros says that some 40-50% of the work is already completed. Currently pavement is being installed on a surface of three thousand square meters. A 200 meter long balustrade will be set up. The cost of the work is estimated at around 3 million lei.
The recreational site on 29 Mircea cel Batran Boulevard has a surface area of almost one hectare, recovered after the removal of more than 50 metal garages. Efros says the area will feature pedestrian alleys and street lights. The cost is estimated at 1.8 million lei.
