Women from Ukraine and Moldova: together for peace and gender equality

The Association of Ukrainian Women signed a cooperation and friendship agreement with the Moldovan Association of Women Entrepreneurs at the end of a three-day working visit to Chisinau paid by a group of 37 women who represented all the regions of Ukraine, including those affected by war, IPN reports.

The Ukrainian women aimed to exchange experience with the women’s organizations of Moldova with a view to borrowing the good practice and initiatives on pacification and development of civil society. Together with members of the Moldovan Association, the guests took part in the forum “The woman’s role in the pacification process, where they could learn from Moldova’s experience in diminishing the impact of the Transnistrian conflict. The debates held within the forum centered on such issues as gender equality and promotion of women’s participation in the public life. The forum involved representatives of civil society of Moldova, civil servants and MPs.

During the visit, the Ukrainian women were familiarized with the brand of the Moldovan textile industry “From the heart” and the country tourism brand “Tree of life”. They also watched small fashion shows.

“We were impressed by such examples of union of the Moldovan producers of goods and services under one brand,” said a woman.

At the end, the members of the Moldovan Association of Women Entrepreneurs suggested collecting Christmas presents for the children refugees from the Ukrainian areas affected by war.

The visit by the Association of Ukrainian Women was made within the Pacification Process in Ukraine Program that is financed by Canada’s Stabilization Support Services (SSS) and is supported by the British Embassy in Ukraine.
