CMC may come together in September
The Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) may hold a meeting this month. Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said the factions of the Council will convene starting with this week, Info-Prim Neo reports.
”We asked drafting an agenda. Those who have to put forward draft decisions for the Council’s meeting must prepare and present them as soon as possible. The draft decisions must be submitted within two days, especially those concerning the creation of the commission on land auctions, the commission on the reserve fund, the commission on the social fund, and other commissions,” said Dorin Chirtoaca.
The CMC was constituted on July 18 by the second attempt. The first meeting was attended by 50 of the 51 elected councilors.
The Communist Party and the Liberal Democratic Party announced earlier the creation of their factions on the Council. The Communist faction will be headed by Boris Golovin, while Valery Pavlov, Elena Danu-Straistean and Natalia Vysotina will serve as deputy heads. The post of secretary of the faction will be held by Ludmila Sevastin.
Ghenadie Dumanschi will head the Liberal-Democratic faction. Ghenadie Ivashchenko will serve as secretary of the faction.
The Liberal Party asked for a pause of 10 days to set up its faction and name its head. But its request was rejected. In this connection, Dorin Chirtoaca, who is the Liberal Party’s deputy chairman, said the CMC’s regulations allow the factions to seek breaks in such cases.
The factions on the Chisinau Council must include at least three councilors. The only councilor of the Democratic Party Valentin Guznac is to decide whether to serve as unaffiliated councilor or to join one of the factions.
The CMC consists of 26 Communist councilors, 17 Liberal councilors, seven Liberal-Democrat councilors and one Democrat councilor.
