The lack of a director and the attitude of the members of the Supervisory Board (SB) delay the institutional reform at the public TV channel Moldova 1 within the Teleradio-Moldova Company (TRM). The statement was made by the board chairman Eugeniu Ribca during the presentation of the report on the work of the SB in 2011, at the meeting of the parliamentary commission for culture, education, research, youth, sport and mass media, Info-Prim Neo reports. “It seems to me that the current members of the Supervisory Boards ignore their duty to sanction the people they employ. In order to ensure the efficiency of the activity of the Supervisory Board and the execution of the board’s decisions, the SB must sanction the three employees (the TRM chairman, the Radio Moldova director and the Moldova 1 director), which unfortunately doesn’t happen”, said Eugeniu Ribca. The SB chairman added that the institutional reform wasn’t finalized because the director of the public TV hadn’t been elected yet, his positions being vacant since March this year. The SB adopted a decision that obliges the future director to finalize the institutional reform until April 1, 2013. If there is no director, then the company chairman will have to do it. SB secretary Viorica Bogatu-Cucerenu declared that the TV needed a strong director who would not look for petty reasons to quit after a while. “We must carry on the reforms. You don’t look for causes, but go on”, she said. One of the SB members, Aurelia Peru-Balan, said that the Parliament should show more responsibility as well because it had to elect three more members of the SB, without whom it’s difficult to elect the TV director. The TRM institutional reform stipulates the reformation of the wage system and the change from the current prize system to the bonus system. This implies a change of the work standards and wage raises. There will also be less heads and more people employed in the creative process. So far, the reform has only been applied in the News and Debates Department at Moldova 1, and has almost been completed at Radio Moldova.
