The members of the Chisinau local organization of the Ecologist Party “Green Alliance” Wednesday called upon the residents of the municipality to vote for the Liberal Party’s candidate for mayor Dorin Chirtoaca in the second round of voting, Info-Prim Neo reports. Acting head of the Chisinau local organization Gheorghe Cibotari read their appeal in the name of the local organization and the entire party. He said that the Ecologist Party “Green Alliance” realizes that the European integration is the only real prospect for Moldova to become a prosperous and civilized country. The Greens expressed their concern about the populism, misinformation and manipulation of the voters used by revanchist forces that blatantly speculated about the consequences of the crisis and the political, social and economic difficulties experienced by Moldovan society. “The Ecologist Party “Green Alliance” was and remains in favor of clean and correct election campaigns, when the runners do not make empty promises to the people, but say things as they are and aim to improve the living standards,” said Gheorghe Cibotari. He also said that the young people’s revolt of April 7, 2009 was a clear signal that Moldova should become a free, democratic and European state. In the political context created after the June 5 elections, the Ecologist Party “Green Alliance” considers that the battle for the post of mayor is a decisive battle between the lie and the truth, between dictatorship and democracy. Singer Ricky Ardezianu joined the Greens in their call to support Dorin Chirtoaca. He said that Dorin Chirtoaca studied in the West, is a young man with progressive political views who fights the communist anachronism and revanchist forces. He managed to achieve many results during his tenure as mayor even if the former governors placed numerous obstacles in his path. The singer urged the electors to vote for Dorin Chirtoaca in the second round of voting. On June 19, the voters in Chisinau will choose between Dorin Chirtoaca and Igor Dodon, who polled the largest number of votes in the first round of the mayoral elections.
