The Liberal-Democratic faction and the Communist faction refused to take part in the January 22 sitting of the legislative body. The head of the Lib-Dems in Parliament Valeriu Strelet said the sitting was convened with deviations from the legislation. Communist MP Eduard Musuc said the PCRM does not take part in the meeting because the discharge of First Deputy Speaker Vlad Plahotniuc wasn’t included in the agenda, as the Communist faction requested, Info-Prim Neo reports. “After the faction’s meeting this morning, we took a number of decisions. We have been informed about the sitting verbally and received no official document and no agenda. The PLDM emphasizes that under the Parliament’s Regulations, the request of 1/3 of the MPs to call an extraordinary session is made to the Standing Bureau, not the Head of Parliament,” Valeriu Strelet said in a press briefing before the plenary sitting. He also said that the Standing Bureau decides when an extraordinary session is summoned and how long it lasts. Also, such a sitting is called in three days and the PLDM considers that in three days means on the third day. “Given that these norms haven’t been respected, the Liberal-Democratic faction decided not to take part in a sitting organized with deviations,” stated Valeriu Strelet. In the Parliament’s sitting, Eduard Musuc said the Communist faction decided to leave the sitting hall because the agenda does not include the discharge of Vlad Plahotniuc, as the Communists asked. “The sitting was called illegally and we will not take part in it,” he said and all the Communists went away afterward. Head of Parliament Marian Lupu replied that he does everything in accordance with the legislation and an approach by the Speaker is needed to put the dismissal of the First Deputy Speaker to the vote. He stressed that this situation was well-orchestrated by certain parliamentary groups. The January 22 sitting was convened by Marian Lupu at the request of 34 Communist MPs. The Communist faction proposed including the dismissal of the Speaker and First Deputy Speaker in the agenda.
