Liberal Reforming Party convenes constitution congress

The Liberal Reforming Party will hold its constitution congress at the National Palace “Nicolae Sulac” on December 15. The meeting will involve 1,600 delegates of the party’s local organizations from all the country’s districts as well as invitees from Moldova and another six countries and representatives of the Liberal International and the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe, IPN reports.

The congress will adopt a decision on the foundation of the Liberal Reforming Party and the party’s statutes, programs and symbols and will elect the party’s executive bodies.

“The major objective of the Reformation Council was achieved. The new pro-European government was elected and the early elections were avoided. This enabled Moldova to initial the Association Agreement with the EU in Vilnius. Now we aim to build a party that would modernize Moldova’s political sector and would be a guarantor of our state,” said MP Ion Hadarca, the leader of the constitution committee.

The statement on the reformation of the Liberal Party was signed on April 12. The demands at that time included improving the democratic processes inside the party, modernizing the political class in general and changing the method of electing the leaders by secret vote. After this statement was issued, the signatories, who included seven lawmakers, were excluded from the Liberal Party. The group of Liberal reformers agreed with the PLDM and PDM to form the Pro-European Collation.
