Liberals propose repeat elections in 3 months, not 2 weeks
The Liberal Party is proposing that the Election Code should be amended to provide repeat elections within 3 months and not in 2 week as currently provided. The proposal, submitted to the Parliament's Legal Commission on Wednesday, took Liberal-Democrats by surprise, which made them abstain from endorsing it, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“We have had five elections in two years. This is far too much. People are fed up with elections”, Liberal Mihai Ghimpu argued.
Valeriu Strelet, the leader of the Lib-Dem faction in Parliament, regretted the lack of coordination. “For this reason, we requested a break to discuss and see which the essence of this amendment is”.
