Lupu, Ghimpu insist on Filat’s resignation

The February 21 meeting of President Nicolae Timofti and the leaders of the PLDM, PDM and PL ended with no agreement reached, Info-Prim Neo reports. Nicolae Timofti told the press after the meeting that he reiterated the call to the three leaders to make everything possible to keep the Alliance for European Integration. PDM chairman Marian Lupu insisted on the resignation of the Liberal-Democratic leader from the post of Prime Minister. “Any discussion can start only after the Filat Government resigns. I will resign immediately afterward. Today we reached no agreement as we didn’t hold talks. We only stated our views,” he told the journalists. The leader of the PL Mihai Ghimpu considers the resignation of Vlad Filat and Marian Lupu is opportune. “I kept silent more. I know that the alliance must exist and that’s all. I said it was right for the two to resign. They should descend from above as real life is down here. We will have more meetings with the head of state,” said Mihai Ghimpu. The chairman of the PLDM Vlad Filat didn’t make statements. The Lib-Dems withdrew from the alliance on February 13. Vlad Filat said then that the political agreement on the creation of the AEI must be reviewed because it became a brake on governance.
