Mayor of Cocieri village Sergiu Nirca made accusations against the Dubasari Prosecutor’s Office, blaming the institution for delaying the investigation into the case of his poisoning with lead. The mayor said that the prosecutors are influenced by a criminal authority from Cocieri, who intends to murder him. According to Sergiu Nirca, the persons who want his death form part of the Alliance for European Integration. But he did not give names, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a news conference on Thursday, Sergiu Nirca said the Dubasari Prosecutor’s Office annulled the order to institute legal action and sent the materials back for additional examination. The Prosecutor’s Office questions the diagnosis made to him in Ukraine, Belarus and Austria and the medical examination report produced by experts of the Ministry of Health of Moldova. According to the mayor, the investigation is delayed in order not to hinder the campaign for the June local elections of persons involved in this case. Sergiu Nirca said he distrusts the prosecution bodies and thus asked national decision makers and international organizations to help him and provide special equipment that could detect the lead. Sergiu Nirca stated that he was first poisoned with teraethyllead in 2007, when he won the elections in Corjova. In 2009, his family had to move to a new home owing to the attacks that followed. He said that two of his colleagues from the mayor’s office, at whose places he stayed for a period during the last few years, died and it is not excluded that they were also poisoned with lead. The mayor said that his mother was also affected. According to him, this substance completely destroys the nervous system. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, prosecutor of Dubasari Valentina Bradu said she personally ordered that the case be reexamined. A through examination is performed on the basis of the accusations made by the mayor. “Materials are being collected over this case, including from the National Public Health Center, whose specialists did not identify toxic substances in the mayor’s office, at home or in other places where the mayor goes. I think he makes insinuations and misinforms the mass media in order to improve his political rating so that he is elected for a new tenure. We will soon make a decision and familiarize Mister Nirca with it,” said the prosecutor.
