Mihai Ghimpu said the position of the PL will remain unchanged and the party is ready to support a government within an alliance of which it will form part. After the February 16 consultations with the Premier designate Chiril Gaburici, which were attended by the leader of the PLDM Vlad Filat, the Liberal leader said the final decision will be taken by the PL’s Political Bureau, IPN reports.

“The party’s decision is known. We changed something in the discussions. We asked that Vlad Filat should also come because the decision is taken by the party. The government program and the composition of the Cabinet remained the same, being supported by the minority PLDM-PDM alliance. We will hold a meeting of the Political Bureau this evening to decide whether to change our decision or not,” stated Mihai Ghimpu. He reiterated that without the PL, reforms in Moldova cannot be done. “Moldova needs a government supported by a declared, not a tacit parliamentary majority,” he said.

The Liberal leader was asked to comment on Anatol Salaru’s statement that Vlad Filat convinced some of the Liberal MPs not to vote for Iurie Leanca. Ghimpu confirmed, saying another colleague of his told him the same thing.

Asked the same question, Vlad Filat, who made statements separately from Ghimpu, said the given assertions are false.

As regards the discussions with the Liberals, Vlad Filat said the communication was good and should be continue. The essence and objectives of the government programs remained the same. The Parliament sitting where the Government is to be invested could take place this Thursday.

Asked by the journalists if acting Minister of Education Maia Sandu will keep her post, Vlad Filat said she will and the PLDM will not change its stance in this respect.

Premier designate Chiril Gaburici is holding consultations with the parliamentary political parties for securing their support in Parliament.
