Ex-first vice president of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) Mihai Godea, in a news conference on May 4, said there is a real danger that the PLDM will come closer to the PCRM and that was the last drop that made him defect from the party, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“I cannot say that it is raining when it is hot outside,” said Mihai Godea. Asked if the other heavyweights left the party for the same reasons, the former first vice president of the PLDM said he cannot tell all the things as they are too hurtful. “I decided to leave because I do not agree with the way the decisions are taken in the party and with the deviations from the initial principles,” said Mihai Godea.
According to him, too much time was lost at interminable discussions during the negotiations on who is more powerful. “I took part in the negotiations on the formation of this alliance. I wish nobody to have such experience,” stated Mihai Godea.
The politician said that his relations with Vlad Filat will not change. “It is not settling of accounts between me and the Premier. The relations between us can be good or bad. The question is, what do we do to reform society and achieve the objectives set when we founded the party and constituted the alliance?,” he stressed.
As to the election of the head of state, Mihai Godea said there are a number of solutions. One of them is to amend the Constitution, while another one is to agree a candidate for the presidency. “The candidacy of Marian Lupu is stipulated in the constitution agreement, but a lot of time passed since it was signed. The President can be elected if their is political will,” he said.
On May 4, Mihai Godea announced that he defected from the PLDM and will not join another political organization.
