The North Atlantic Treaty Organization will further support the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said in a meeting with Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici in Brussels on March 16, IPN reports, quoting the Government’s press service.
“The NATO states always supported Moldova in the problems related to the Treaty on Convectional Armed Forces in Europe, demanding that the Russian troops should be pulled out from Moldova’s territory,” stated Jens Stoltenberg.
He highly appreciated Moldova’s contribution to the UN-mandated operation performed by NATO in Kosovo, within which the Moldovan servicemen could improve their professional abilities and interoperability skills for keeping peace. The official accepted the Premier’s initiation to pay a visit to Moldova.
Chiril Gaburici reiterated Moldova’s interest in having a NATO Office in Chisinau, which would facilitate the political dialogue and cooperation between Moldova and NATO. He pleaded for cooperation with the NATO member states and partners in the area of cybernetic defense and emergencies management, including within the NATO Science for Peace and Security Program, and the necessity of completing the project to remove obsolete pesticides from Moldova’s territory.
