The problem of unionism caused heated debates between the chairwoman of the National Liberal Party Vitalia Pavlichenco and the leader of the Movement “Ravnopravie” Valery Climenco, who were invited to the program “Politics” on TV 7 channel, IPN reports.
Vitalia Pavlichenco considers that Moldova made considerable progress in forming a union with Romania. “All the valuable politicians from Romania are for the reunion of the two Romanian states. We are very glad that Victor Ponta, Klaus Iohanes, Elena Udrea and Monica Macovei clearly stated their position in favor of the reunion of the two Romanian states. The existence of a powerful anti-Romania current in Moldova is due to the fact that an active anti-Romania policy has been pursued here during 14 years. In 2010, the situation started to change. The people cannot ignore the enormous assistance provided by Romania,” she stated.
On the other hand, Valery Climenco pleaded for Moldova’s integration into Russia. “Moldova’s union with Romania will lead to the disappearance of Moldova as a state and of the Moldovans as a nation. Moldova can be saved by a union with Russia, by the example of Tatarstan,” he said.
Independent candidate in the parliamentary elections Valeriu Plesca expressed his indignation at the unionist positions of the two election runners. “All these ideas cause disharmony in society. I want to live in an independent country. When I go abroad, I want to be proud of my country, which would not be a vassal state,” he stated.
