PCRM will contest the votes recount process if severe procedure infringements are registered. The statement was made at a press briefing by party lawyer Sergiu Sarbu, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Recounting means the act of receiving/delivering the bags, the ballot packages, sending them to electoral bureaus, inviting observers and representatives, preparing the necessary documents and only then can the unsealing procedure and the recounting of votes start. According to this instruction, the president of the electoral bureau, together with at least two members of the bureau, observers and representatives of competitors, will receive the confirmation papers of delivering/receiving the ballot packages and bags from the Center Sector Court”, said Sergiu Sarbu. According to the PCRM jurist, the ballot papers were supposed to be taken from the Court on Thursday, June 23, and not today, as it happened. “The process began with a serious infringement of the instruction and the bags are sent illegally to the district offices, without the confirmation papers that should be signed by responsible persons. The representatives of electoral competitors, who have the right to attend recounting procedures, weren’t informed”, he said. Sarbu says that PCRM observers want to participate in recounting the votes, but it seems they won’t be allowed. “We have information that bureau presidents requested that our representatives and observers are not informed about when and where the recount will take place. We find the Chisinau Election Council and the Central Election Committee guilty of defying all principles and infringing the legal procedure of recounting the votes”, said Sergiu Sarbu. Iulian Balan, head of the Chisinau Election Council, told Info-Prim Neo that the recount would start on Thursday, at 9 AM. He declined to comment on PCRM’s accusations.
