PDM accuses PLDM of ‘stealing’ its candidates
The Democratic Party (PDM) accuses the Liberal Democratic Party (PDM) of recruiting important candidates who were to be written in the PDM’s lists for the local elections. “There were many cases all over the country when prominent persons who wanted to run as candidates for the Democratic Party were forced to give up and become candidates of the Liberal-Democratic Party, being personally contacted by members of the PLDM’s administration,” PDM vice president Valentina Buliga, who is running for mayor of Chisinau, told a news conference, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
According to Valentina Buliga, the mayor of Ungheni said he will be near the PDM’s team, but was bought and chose to represent the PLDM. A similar situation happened in Straseni.
“The Democratic Party calls on the election runners to abandon the old methods of recruitment, the pressure and threats against the candidates and supporters. We will defend our people. We do not want a dirty campaign. I will not attack the candidates, but will try to daily promote a model of responsible behavior,” said Valentina Buliga.
She also urged the contenders to observe the electoral legislation and conduct a correct campaign, based on a competition of ideas not dirty methods.
