PDM requests Government to take measures to stop abuses by patrolling inspectors

The administration of the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) called on the Government officials in charge to take measures and deal with the abuses committed by patrolling inspectors so that these are unable to stop drivers in traffic if only the latter break the law. The request was made following multiple complaints submitted by people, the president of the PDM Vlad Plahotniuc announced after the traditional weekly meeting of the party’s administration, IPN reports.

Vlad Plahotniuc said that he not long ago requested their colleagues from the Cabinet to analyze the situation and found out that hundreds of police officers whose duty was to patrol and maintain public order re-qualified as traffic police agents in the reform process. Thus, there are over traffic officers now instead of 300 and these do nothing but stop vehicles, often without a reason, and the so-called routine checks turn into acts to corrupt and harass drivers.

The education system reform was another subject discussed in the meeting. It was suggested instituting a moratorium on school closing. “No school should be closed until we thoroughly assess the previous optimization experience, in each case apart, and identify solutions that would not affect the interests of the people and communities,” stated the Democratic leader, noting that any reform should have a human face and should start from the necessities of the people and social realities.

The PDM’s administration also discussed the possibility of identifying the sources needed by the Government to increase the salaries of teachers and to exempt these from paying taxes for continuous training courses, and the review of the school program, said Vlad Plahotniuc.
