The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) calls upon the administration of the Democratic Party (PDM), especially its leader Marian Lupu to keep their emotions under control and to stop using political blackmail. A statement to this effect was made by the head of the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group Valeriu Strelet, in reaction to Marian Lupu’s assertion that the PDM will initiate a censure motion if the Premier does not resign, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Valeriu Strelet said the PLDM calls upon the politicians to keep the pro-European majority in Parliament and to sign a new agreement on the formation of the Alliance for European Integration. “The executive is fully functional. The PDM pretends not to understand that the Government’s resignation will lead to early elections,” he stated.
He also said that the Democrats’ intention to put forward a censure motion represents political blackmail. Valeriu Strelet does not rule out that the PDM reached an agreement with another party and will form a new alliance after the Government headed by the Liberal-Democratic Premier is dismissed.
The politician avoided saying if their Liberal colleagues may support a censure motion to dismiss the Government. He only said that the procedure is an open one and it will be clear who and what wants. Valeriu Strelet believes that those who seek the dismissal of the executive already calculated the necessary votes and are convinced that they have them.
On February 25, unaffiliated MP Mihai Godea announced that he has initiated the procedure for giving a vote of no confidence to the Government of Moldova. Later the same day, the Democratic leader Marian Lupu announced they will put forward their own censure motion or will join other censure against the Government if Prime Minister Vlad Filat does not resign soon
A censure motion can be debated in Parliament if it’s signed by 26 MPs. The PDM has 15 lawmakers, while the PL – 12.
