“We approve of the PCRM’s intention to field Mister Leonid Talmaci for President as he is a professional of integrity whose merits are recognized both by Zinaida Grecianyi and Igor Dodon, who worked with him in the Grecenyi Government,” reads a communiqué issued by the Party of Socialists (PSRM), Info-Prim Neo reports. The communiqué also says that both of the announced candidates - Leonid Talmaci and Oazu Nantoi – are not party members and generally meet the requirements that were put forward earlier by the Party of Socialists as a precondition for the three Socialists in Parliament to give their votes. The parliamentary group of the Socialists is waiting for a firm decision on behalf of the ruling alliance, which is for now the only political force that did not propose an alternative apolitical candidate and does not hurry to contribute to unlocking the political crisis. “In the present situation, the PSRM considers that if the AEI supports Leonid Talmaci, it will show astuteness and political maturity as Moldova will thus have a head of state backed by all the 101 MPs,” reads the communiqué. The PSRM said there are now three candidates for whom the ruling alliance may vote - Zinaida Grecianyi, Oazu Nantoi and Leonid Talmaci.
