Three extraparliamentary parties intend to merge

Three extraparliamentary parties decided to join their forces. The United Moldova Party, the Republican People’s Party and the Sociopolitical Movement “New Force” plan to merge into one party, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a news conference on March 23, the head of the United Moldova Party (PMU) Vladimir Turcan, a former Communist MP, said the three parties took such a decision because they have common ideas and experiences and know the necessities of the Moldovan people. Nicolae Andronic, the leader of the Republican People’s Party, Valeriu Plesca, the leader of the Sociopolitical Movement “New Force”, and Vladimir Turcan said the move is made in the context of the local elections and is aimed at achieving better results in them. None of the three leaders ruled out the possibility of running for mayor of Chisinau. This is not the first planned change on the political arena this year. Earlier, leaders of the local organizations of the PMU announced they intend to join the Democratic Party. PMU deputy head Ana Tcaci decided to join a little known party and form a new political force. The extraparliamentary party Moldova Noastra Alliance headed by Serafim Urechean merged with Vlad Filat’s Liberal Democratic Party.
