The National Confederation of Trade Unions of Moldova is against the adoption of a new Labor Code and calls on the future Government to improve the current legislation so as to balance the interests of employers and employees in labor relations. In a meeting with the candidate for premiership Chiril Gaburici, the trade unionists said the current Labor Code caused no difficulties or situations that would have affected the economic rights and interests of the economic entities, including foreign investors. They pleaded for creating labor tribunals that would deal with the labor relations, IPN reports.
The Confederation’s deputy chairman Mihail Hancu said a dialogue with the Cabinet must exist. “We want the work of the national commission on collective consultations and negotiations to be improved and the Government’s representatives on this commission to be more responsible. We also want this commission to include the ministers in charge of labor, social protection, economy, finance, justice, education, and health,” he stated.
The trade unionists proposed increasing the minimum official salary and the tariff salary for the first pay category in the budgetary sector up to the minimum subsistence level of the able to work people in 2015, setting only one minimum official salary depending on the average pay, not introducing a common income tax rate for private individuals and instituting a higher tax rate for persons with high incomes.
Chiril Gaburici said he had very interesting discussions on different social problems. “We agreed that we will have a dialogue once in two-three months. There are many problems that we need to address. The most important thing is that we agreed to maintain a permanent dialogue and to establish a long-term cooperation relationship,” he stated.
This week Chiril Gaburici is to present the Government’s plan of action for 2015-2018.
