The U.S. Ambassador to Moldova Asif Chaudhry was conferred the Order of Honor under a decree signed by Acting President Marian Lupu, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the presidential press service, the high award was given in gratitude for special contribution towards developing and strengthening the friendship and cooperation relations between Moldova and the United States.
A career member of the U.S. Senior Foreign Service, Asif J. Chaudhry was named Ambassador in Chisinau in May 2008. He presented his credentials four months later, in September. This autumn, Asif Chaudhry is to be replaced by William Moser, who entered the U.S. diplomatic corps in 1984.
