Vlad Filat about non-acceptance of their application by ECHR

The fact that the ECHR declared the application filed by the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), by which they challenged the Constitutionals Court’s decision of April 22, 2013, as inadmissible is not a verdict, but a procedural matter, the party’s leader Vlad Filat said in the program “Forth power” on N4 TV channel, IPN reports.

According to Filat, many overlook an element that must be taken into account. The application wasn’t rejected. It wasn’t accepted for procedural reasons. “The fact that it wasn’t accepted does not mean that the verdict of the Constitutional Court was endorsed. Statistics show that over 90% of the applications submitted by the Moldovans to the ECHR over the last few years were declared inadmissible, but this does not mean that somebody said that these people are not right,” stated the Liberal-Democratic leader.

He considers that by such a gesture, the ECHR suggested that it is an internal political problem that must be solved inside Moldova.

In the same connection, Vlad Filat referred to the Constitutional Court’s decision of April 22, 2013, whereby the presidential decree on his appointment as Prime Minister was annulled. “It was a political decision taken at night, in certain circumstances, dominated rather by chaos. The PLDM was then put in the situation to choose between the party interests, which dictated early elections, and the national interests. We chose the national interests or we wouldn’t have reached this moment, with the visa regime abolished, the Association Agreement with the EU signed, investments in infrastructure and social projects,” he stated.

The leader of the PLDM noted that now all the forces of the party are aimed at winning the parliamentary elections of November 2014 so as to secure Moldova’s European path.
