Prime Minister Vlad Filat, who heads the Liberal Democratic Party, said that his party does not want early legislative elections. He made the statement after his alliance colleague, the Democratic leader Marian Lupu, asserted that the PLDM wants early elections this year, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Vlad Filat said that early parliamentary elections are possible in two cases: if Parliament is unable to adopt a decision within three months, and if it does not manage to choose the Government. “The PLDM will vote for all the proposals that will benefit Moldova. The second possibility appears only if the Government is dismissed. The PLDM will not vote for the dismissal of the Filat Government. This will be possible only if the PDM, PL and the PCRM vote together. The deeds, not the words and rumors will show who wants early elections,” the Premier said after the January 23 meeting of the Cabinet.
He also said that by polemics and labeling, they try to distract attention from the tragic hunting incident that happened in the Domneasca Forest on December 23 and from the non-functionality of a number of institutions. As regards Vlad Plahotniuc, the leader of the PLDM said that he has no obsession with him. “Do you think that I envy this person? I’m a free man, speak for myself and can anyway come out and answer the questions put to me. I hid behind no one. I admit that I have an obsession, but it derives from the commitments made to the people,” stressed Vlad Filat.
After the last extraordinary sitting of Parliament that was boycotted by the PLDM and PCRM, Marian Lupu said that the Lib-Dems intended to conclude an agreement with the PCRM so as to dismiss First Deputy Speaker Vlad Plahotniuc. He stated that the PLDM wants early elections this year.
