Parents with young children will have more options for childcare. 15 kindergartens will benefit from a €2.3 million investment to open nursery groups for children under 2 years old. The project is financed by the World Bank and implemented by the Ministry of Education and Research, IPN reports.
This year, extensive renovation work will begin in the 15 institutions and the nursery groups will be equipped with new furniture, toys and teaching materials. The playgrounds will also be improved.
A group of engineers and planners have already visited four of the kindergartens included in the project - kindergarten No. 6 in Singerei, kindergartens No. 35 and No. 6 in Balti, and kindergarten No. 10 in Riscani.
The initiative is part of the project "Improving the Quality of Education" and is carried out in partnership with the National Office for Regional and Local Development.
Previously, local public administrations were encouraged to participate in competitions organized for the creation and expansion of public nurseries. The call was launched by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development and the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection. According to the authorities, the main aim is to increase access to early childhood education and to support parents returning to work after childcare leave.
