200 families that remained without apartments make repeated call for help to authorities

A number of 200 families that are the clients of a construction company building attic-like apartments on 20 blocks in Chisinau make another call to the authorities, demanding conducting an investigation into this case. In a news conference at IPN, they said that since May, when they made public the swindles committed by the company’s administration, several institutions took steps, but only formally and nothing was done during half a year.

One of the inventors Natalia Lungu said the central and local authorities are protecting the company “Neomansarde” (SRL “Neo Imobiliare”), which was headed by Marcel Darie. The director and his brother disappeared with the 60 million lei collected from the investing families. Natalia Lungu signed a contract with this company in 2012. The contract stipulated that the apartment will be ready in the spring of 2013. When she paid all the money for the apartment (about €20,000), the company’s administration was changed. The new director promised that the attic-like apartments will be ready soon, but no family has yet moved to the new homes.

Investor Maria Cretu said that when she concluded the contract, she thoroughly analyzed the authorization and license of the company and everything seemed to be in order. Now the Chisinau City Hall can provide no confirmation of existence of those documents. They suspect that Marcel Darie and his brother are protected politically, while the competent bodies intentionally do nothing in this case.

Another investor Nicolae Pojoga said that many of the victims have court decisions by which the company’s administrators are obliged to pay back the investments, but there is no money in their accounts and nobody can do anything. “We invested money and were simply cheated. We lost hope of recovering the money,” said the man. He added that he filed a complaint to the Prosecutor General’s Office, but received no answer.

The victims said that neither the former director, not the current one answer the phone and they are unavailable. The families paid by €19,000 to €25,000 for the apartments. They call on the law enforcement bodies to investigate this case. The persons who held the news conference said the former owners of the company, Marcel Darie and his brother, started a new business and hundreds of other persons can become victims of their swindles.
