The 2022 edition of the Bookfest International Fair will take place in Chisinau from August 31 to September 4.
“The book fair editions of recent years have greatly enriched our collections, and not only ours, but also those libraries that received donations (...) The Fair’s greatest benefit for the readers, publishers and authors alike are the new releases. Access is created for better interaction with the authors and literary critics”, said Aliona Muntean, deputy director of the National Library, during a conference preceding the Bookfest Fair.
Elena Pintilei, general director of the National Library, stated that the Fair is “a new formula of the National Library brand”, a fair where “Romanian books from both sides of the Prut River” meet.
The pre-event conference, titled “Reading as a basis for culture, knowledge and growth”, was also an occasion to present five large-scale national projects initiated by the National Library, some of them already three decades old. The international conference marked the 190th anniversary of the National Library of the Republic of Moldova and three decades since it gained the national library status.
