At least 27 children have been bitten by dogs in Chisinau so far this year. In over half of the cases, the dogs had an owner. Five children were hospitalized. The data were presented in the ordinary meeting of Chisinau City Hall officials on May 21, Info-Prim Neo reports. Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca instructed the competent divisions and the district head’s offices to take the measures needed to avoid such cases in the future. The head of the municipal Public Health Center Constantin Rimis said that there is a risk that the bitten persons may get rabies. A number of 99 children were bitten by dogs, rats and cats last year. In 2009, there was hospitalized a child bitten by a snake.
