The rain of the night of August 29 flooded 28 houses in Zarnesti village of Cahul district. Rescuers continue to pump the water out of the homes. When the news item was published, the village was disconnected from the power supply.
An annex to a house was damaged, but nobody lives there so that it poses no threat to life, the head of the Cahul Emergencies Division Ion Carajahas told IPN.

The section of the R 34 road between Zarnesti and Tretesti villages that was inundated is now passable.
