More than half of all high school graduates in the country, i.e. 51.64% of those who took the BAC in 2024, were enrolled in higher education institutions in Moldova. The young people chose to pursue undergraduate studies predominantly in business, administration and law. Only 2% of students were enrolled in math, statistics and natural sciences. Education and Research Minister Dan Perciun said this at a meeting with rectors, IPN reports.
For next year's admissions, the ministry aims to increase by up to 60% the number of high school students who choose to pursue undergraduate studies in Moldova. "There is a huge untapped potential and we need to better target our efforts next year to persuade young people to enter the country's universities", Dan Perciun said.
In 2024, 16,345 young people were enrolled in bachelor's degree studies, 6.7% more than last year. The increase in admissions was also recorded in higher master's studies, where 5,713 were enrolled, 10% more than in 2023.
