About 250,000 Moldovans still have Soviet-type passports

Approximately 300,000 pensioners have replaced their old Soviet-type passports with identity cards, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting IS “Registru”. “Those who still have Soviet-type passports – about 250,000 persons – are elderly people who encounter difficulties in going to document issuing offices even if the cards for this category of people are free of charge,” said the head of IS “Registru” Sergiu Railean. He also said that there were set up mobile teams of specialists who will go to the houses of those who cannot travel and will make identity cards for them if they want to. “In the near future, the mobile teams will also provide services to other persons who cannot go to the document issuing offices because they do not have time or for other reasons,” said Sergiu Railean, without specifying the price of this service. The head of IS “Registru” informed that they are also considering other projects aimed at improving the services provided by the company and the relations with the people.
