The Broadcasting Coordination Council penalized the public TV channel Accent TV for not respecting plurality of opinion. The broadcaster was given a public warning, IPN reports.
According to the Council’s report, Accent TV aired bulletins and programs where the Communist Party accounts for almost 40% of the broadcast volume. In all the cases, the party is presented in a positive light. At the same time, the pro-European coalition was presented in a negative light in 16% of the programs’ volume.
The Council’s chairman Marian Pocaznoi said the balance and plurality of opinion were evidently violated. He warned that NIT TV channel remained without a license for committing similar violations, but the Council does not want to liquidate the channels. They should only obey the law.
