A woman died and two others were transported to the hospital after the vehicle in which they were travelling was hit head-on by a truck registered in Moldova. The accident took place on Tuesday evening in the Romanian commune Costești, IPN reports.
The hit car was being driven by a 47-year-old woman, who had two other women travelling as passengers in the car. They were all traveling back from work to Buzau. At one point, the truck registered in Moldova changed lanes and struck the car head-on. The truck was being driven by a 55-year-old man, according to stirileprotv.ro.
Following the impact, the struck vehicle was thrown on the side of the road and the three women remained trapped inside the car. A number of rescue crews were mobilized to save the women, but the victim in the back seat was already dead. The other two women were transported in a serious condition to the Buzau County Emergency Hospital.
"Probably, due to his inattention while driving, he entered the contraflow lane where he collided head-on with a car coming from the opposite direction," said the representative of the Buzau County Police Inspectorate Cosmin Cireșaru.
The driver of the truck was unhurt.
