The ceiling of alcoholemy that determines the person’s state of inebriation – minimal or advanced – will be increased following amendments to a number of laws approved by the Government, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The phrase “0.3 to 0.8 g/l” will be substituted with “0.3 to 1.0 g/l of alcohol in blood”, while the phrase “0.15 to 0.4 mg/l” with “0.15 to 0.5 mg/l of alcohol in exhaled air”. The advanced inebriation level entails criminal punishment.
Administrative punishment was instituted for drivers who drink alcohol and take drugs or medicines prepared from drugs after causing traffic accidents, until the arrival of the police. These motorists will be banned from driving units of transport for a period of two to three years.
The amendments say that the alcoholoscopic test is sufficient for determining the driver’s state of inebriation.
According to official reports, the about 2,000 road accidents that happened in the first nine months of 2012 resulted in 282 deaths. Driving under the influence was the cause of 126 accidents that resulted in 32 persons dead.
