All roads in Moldova are passable

They travel in winter conditions on the national roads. Ice appeared on roads in southern and central Moldova. No blocked roads were reported and the persons who are equipped appropriately do not face problems when travelling, IPN reports, quoting the State Road Administration.

The most dangerous sloping road sections are supervised more intensely. The information about the state of the roads is updated each three hours.

According to the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, 214 vehicles and 294 road workers have been involved in the technological process so far. They spread 1.633,3 tonnes of antiskid materials.

The drivers are urged to travel at low speed in localities and outside them, to keep a longer distance between vehicles so as to manage to brake and to avoid parking the vehicles near trees.

The drivers can check the state of the roads in real time on the State Road Administration’s website www.asd.md. Those who do not have access to the Internet can find out if a particular road is blocked or not by calling on (022)225530. The service is available round-the-clock.

According to the local authorities of Chisinau, the specialized services in the capital city work in cooperation with the National Patrolling Inspectorate to deal with the faced problems. The public transport runs on all the municipal routes.

A number of 307 trolleybuses and 91 buses went out on routes in the morning of January 11. The administration of the Chisinau Eclectic Transport Company decided to withdraw eight trolleybuses with trailer and to replace them with ordinary trolleybuses.

Since 03:30am, road workers have spread 280 tonnes of antiskid materials with the assistance of 30 units of transport. About 600 tonnes of sand and salt were spread yesterday. In the course of January 11, 400 workers will clean snow from sidewalks and in public transport stations.

The municipal authorities call on the citizens to use public transport instead of personal cars and not to park by the roadside and on sidewalks so as to avoid congestion and to allow utility vehicles to intervene swiftly.

According to the General Inspectorate for Emergencies, no cases of power outages were reported. During the past 24 hours, until 8am, rescuers and firefighters intervened in five cases to help tow away blocked vehicles. Near Alava village of Ștefan Vodă district, they pulled away a school minibus without children. In Bălăbănești, firemen transported a man aged 56 up to an ambulance so that this could receive medical care.

The people are urged to be precautious, to be attentive to authorities’ messages and to call the 112 Service in emergencies.
