The Government will provide over 1 million lei in the form of lump-sum allowances for building an individual home or a cooperative dwelling or for purchasing or repairing homes, IPN reports.

Such allowances will be offered to 26 persons who were affected by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, were victims of political repression and are veterans who didn’t raise preferential loans from financial institutions and weren’t provided with homes by October 22, 2004.

The money will be allocated from the state budget to the local public authorities of ten districts, based on the decisions by special commissions. Thus, the Orhei district council will get 369,000 lei, the Floresti district council – 246,000 lei, the Rascani district council – 123,000 lei. The rest of the sum will be distributed to the authorities of Calarasi, Cahul, Rezina, Telenesti, Ungheni, Falesti and Soldanesti. A sum of 8.5 million lei was earmarked in the 2018 state budget for the purpose.
