Art Museum houses “Albert Henry Payne - 200 years of birth” exhibit
An exhibition themed “Albert Henry Payne - 200 years of birth” was opened at the National Museum of Arts of Moldova on March 7 and will continue until April 29. In its collection, the Museum has 71 works made by Albert Henry Payne after originals of well-known masters, Info Prim Neo reports.
Albert Henry Payne was a famous English engraver, painter, illustrator and editor who lived in the 19th century.
According to a communiqué from the Museum, Albert Payne worked in the period when romantism flourished in England and Germany. He left a rich artistic inheritance. In 1945, he founded the publishing house Englische Kunstanstalt in Leipzig. Most often, the artist used the steel engraving technique.
Albert Henry Payne was born in London on December 14, 1812. Starting with 1839, he lived and worked in Leipzig. He died in this town in 1902.
