Opera soloists, oboists and flautists from five countries will come to Chisinau to take part in the third International Classical Music Festival “Johann Sebastian Bach”. The concerts will be given on April 4-10, IPN reports.
The festival is organized by the Organ Hall under the patronage of Sanda Filat, the former wife of acting Prime Minister Vlad Filat. According to Sanda Filat, the festival is her only project for the near future and she came to Chisinau especially for it. “This festival is like a child for me. We want to pack the halls and to familiarize the public with classical music,” she told a news conference.
This year’s festival will include not only works by Bach, but also of other classical composers. The April 4 inaugural concert, titled “Bach and the sons”, will involve the National Chamber Orchestrate, conducted by Cristian Florea, famous oboist Adrian Petrescu, who is the conductor of the Romanian Philharmonic “George Enescu”, Moldovan flautist Ion Negură Jr. and violinist Eugen Ursu.
Adrian Petrescu said he already rehearsed with the Moldovan artists and was full of enthusiasm. “I would like to come with soloists from “George Enescu” to one of the next festivals. It would be something spectacular,” stated the conductor.
On April 6, the festival will continue with a guitar recital by Spanish artist Maria Esther Guzman. A trio consisting of violinist Boris Livshitz (Switzerland), violinist Iya Komarova (Ukraine) and violoncellist Cristian Florea (Romania-Germany) will give a concert on April 7.
The festival’s traditional jazz evening will take place on April 8. European Jazz Trio from the Netherlands will present a program of jazz improvisations under the works of Bach and such classical composers as Albinoni, Handel, and Scarlatti. The festival will close on April 10 with an organ recital by German organist Matthias Eisenberg.
Tickets are available from the booking offices of the Organ Hall.
