The man who fell from the sixth floor of a building when the balcony on which he stood collapsed is still in a critical condition in the hospital, IPN reports. Valeriu Nemerenko, head of Buiucani district where the incident happened, in Monday’s meeting of heads of Chisinau divisions and services said the balcony caved in because it had been used in an inappropriate way.
According to the district head, that block, situated on A. Coca St, was built 30 years ago and all its balconies are in a bad state and pose a threat to the dwellers. An inspection common was created at the Buiucani district head’s office. The housing stock managers will be obliged to examine the balconies of all the apartment buildings during two months.
Deputy mayor Nistor Grozavu said the monolithic blocks pose the greatest danger to dwellers. Immediate inventorying is needed in order to avoid similar incidents.
Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca asked that information about the state of the monolithic blocks be presented to him by the end of February 25. All the housing stock managers will have to inform the dwellers about the necessity of making investments in repairing and reinforcing the balconies of apartment buildings.
