A bibliography dedicated to Master Vladimir Curbet and the folk dances ensemble “Joc” was launched in Chisinau on February 5. During a year, bibliographers studied and collected archive materials about the activity of the master and the ensemble and included them in the book “Two phenomena of the national culture: Master Vladimir Curbet and “Joc” Ensemble, IPN reports.
In the launch, Vladimir Curbet, 85, said there is one more book that he would like to see published, but is waiting for his state of health to improve so as to edit it. He noted that he loved a lot the Moldovan folklore. “Our life is like a field flower. We admire it and smell it when it is nice, but no longer see it when it fades,” he stated.
Minister of Culture Monica Babuc said that Master Vladimir Curbet added golden pages to the history of the national culture. “He knew to manage a collective and managed it during 50 years, taking it up to the tops of international spirituality. He is an example worth being followed. It is a great responsibility for those who follow in his footsteps to continue his work and to open further the doors of the universe for the national culture,” she stated.
The bibliography was edited by the director general of the Chisinau Library “B.P. Hasdeu” Mariana Harjevschi. “I admit that it was hard to establish when Master Curbet started work and where the ensemble “Joc” began because these are two similar phenomena. The work includes thousands of bibliographical references that include sound and video recordings and interviews,” she stated.
The bibliography “Two phenomena of the national culture: Master Vladimir Curbet and “Joc” Ensemble” was launched on the occasion of the 85th anniversary of the master’s birth and the 70th anniversary of the ensemble’s foundation celebrated in 2015. The book includes over 1,000 bibliographical articles about the life and work of the master and the ensemble’s activity.
