A bus servicing a regular route from Moldova to Portugal caught fire on Monday evening on a French highway. The Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs says none of the 62 Moldovans on board suffered any injury.

“Our diplomatic mission contacted the prefecture and the Red Cross branch in that region with the request to provide our citizens with a place to stay and basic necessities. Following prompt actions taken, all the passengers were accommodated at the local school. At the same time, the transport company offering the respective ride provided another bus, which set off from Romania to France to take the passengers to their final destination”, according to a press release issued by the Ministry.

The Ministry added that staff at the Moldovan Consulate in Nice are in permanent contact with the local authorities, the transport company and the passengers, and are available to provide any help needed.
