Cahul takes over as Youth Capital

The municipality of Cahul has taken over as the Youth Capital 2024. This year’s motto of the program “United through Action!” inspires determination, solidarity and responsibility. The program launch marks the beginning of a series of activities planned for this year to promote civic involvement and cooperation between young people and innovative projects and institutions, and to support the personal and professional development of the young people, IPN reports.

State secretary of the Ministry of Education and Research Sergiu Gurin said that the Ministry encourages the young people in the country to be more active because they lay the foundations of an educated and prosperous society. “The Youth Capital Program provides a platform for investing in young people and offers opportunities for civic involvement and community development,” noted the official.

National Youth Agency director Ion Donea, said that Cahul municipality has special potential. It can create positive precedents for being replicated throughout the country. “We want to invest in young people, youth organizations, infrastructure and, most importantly, we need to invest in human capacities. In the course of the year, we will develop activities aiming at the participation, involvement of the young people in the decision-making process because the opinion of the young people matters and they must be consulted. The title of Youth Capital is a recognition of the potential that exists in Cahul, while the symbolic investment we bring will contribute to the development of this community,” stated Ion Donea.

Mayor of Cahul municipality Nicolae Dandis said that the title of Youth Capital for the municipality means an enormous incentive for everything that means investment in youth activities. The mayor urged all the young people in Moldova to invest in experiences, in their training and to dedicate more time to education.

The Youth Capital is a national program developed by the Ministry of Education and Research and implemented by the National Youth Agency, which aims to support youth activities of the local public authorities, noncommercial organizations and civil society, international organizations and also of the central public authorities in the locality holding this title. For the implementation of this program, over 1 million lei is allocated from the state budget.
