War veteran Vasile Tumuruc said he is the victim of nonprofessional doctors and corrupt prosecutors. He said that in two cases, he witnessed medical negligence and filed complaints to the Prosecutor’s Office, but this refused to take legal action. Vasile Tumuruc calls on the prosecutor general to intervene and annul the given ordinances and to make sure that the doctors to blame answer in accordance with the law.

In a news conference at IPN, Vasile Tumuruc said that in September 2014 he was admitted to the Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection so as to be operated on a leg. After surgery, one of his wounds started to bother him. When he went to another doctor, a pad forgotten by the surgeon was found in the wound. He went to court and the Râșcani branch of the Chisinau City Court in May 2017 held that the medical institution wasn’t to blame. He then lodged a complaint with the municipal Prosecutor’s Office, of Râșcani district, by which he asked to hold the doctor accountable. But a refusal order was made.

The veteran noted he has documents showing that the paid was found in his leg in November 2014. He also has pictures. “I don’t know why the Râșcani Prosecutor’s Office does not want to fulfill its duties as it is supposed to,” stated Vasile Tumuruc.

He also spoke about another case. In 2018, he underwent surgery at the Neurology and Neurosurgery Institute after which his state of health worsened. “Instead of improving my state of health, they worsened it further. As a result of that surgery, I lost hearing and vision. I now have very serious health problems,” said the veteran.

He related that he filed a complaint to the Centru Prosecutor’s Office whereby he asked that the responsible doctors should be held accountable for negligence. “They refused again to take legal action. I ask you to annul these ordinances so that these doctors are held accountable for misconduct,” said Vasile Tumuruc, addressing the prosecutor general.
